Call me an optimist, or delusional, but I like to view everything from a 'glass half-full' point-of-view: I always try to find the good within the mess. One of the best ways to combat negativity is to bring forth positivity into the world. Whether it's showing kindness toward a person in need, supporting a friend through difficult times, listening to that story your mom has told a million times, connecting with a stranger or leaving an unexpected note for a loved one, there's always an opportunity to pay it forward.
Creating the gratitude and kindness sticker experiment was my personal way of bringing joy, humor and kindness to others, as well as opening up the possibility for human connection. There is a mixture of prewritten and blank stickers that have been posted in various places around the city. The blank ones provide a chance for others to participate if they choose to do so. As we navigate our paths in life, there are moments when we forget to be grateful for what we have and times when we lose sight of opportunities to show compassion. A simple act of kindness or taking a minute to reflect on our good fortunes can make all the difference. If the only thing this experiment does is bring a smile to someone’s face, then mission: accomplished.
